Minervini built the set in Montana and then let the actors live in it for two months
Line of Events
In the winter of 1862, during the Civil War, the US Army sends a company of volunteers to patrol the unexplored western territories. The spoken dialogues and thoughts are what the actors used to imagine themselves as soldiers of the Civil War while living in the wilderness.
"The Damned" a completely boring movie
It feels like someone made a home video with a phone or an old camera. As long as the landscapes are beautiful, the soldiers just walk around, doing nothing.
Overall it’s a total waste of time
The changing seasons and snowfall add little to the experience. You’d be better off watching a traffic jam from the window of a big city – it’s much more entertaining than this movie.
I thought the directors and filmmakers were famous, but I had never heard of them
The most iconic filmmakers seem to make films for cross-cultural audiences, not for average people like me.
