Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East in The Heretic as well as more modern women slaying the horror game
Line of Events
Two young religious women are drawn into a game of cat and mouse in a stranger’s house. The closing credits are a version of “Knocking on Heavens Door” set to “Fade into You” by Mazzy Star. The credits state that Generative Artificial Intelligence was not used in the making of the film. No doubt, there will be people who saw the trailer for “Heretic” and thought, “People being held against their will? I’ve seen this a hundred times,” but that’s just thin wrapping paper covering this complicated box of puzzles.
It’s rare that characters who could be two-dimensional seem so human in such a setting
A huge credit goes to to the writers who played such a big role in making this film so refreshing. From the way the missionaries talk to the intricate details that the viewer might think were overlooked, it’s all so well covered. Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East are excellent in their roles, as friends who, outside of their faith, may not have built a relationship at all, with their cynicism and naivety, both of which are revealed.
He’s so disarming and so
Unsurprisingly, Hugh Grant steals the show with his brilliant performance as a rational thinker taking irrational measures. Hugh Grant that there are many moments when it’s impossible not to smile, even when things are going badly, showing how ordinary monsters use their charm to do terrible things. It also makes a nice change to feel genuinely tense and concerned for the characters, rather than expecting a sudden scare.
