Divine G, incarcerated at Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose performing in a theater group alongside other incarcerated men in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art. At the beginning of the film, the cast is auditioning for various roles in the play. These are actual audition tapes that were used to cast the film. The group is criticized for not doing comedy, but their previous play was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is a comedy. Featured on Late Night with Seth Meyers: Anna Faris/Colman Domingo/Jose Medeles (2024). Blades composed by Bryce Dessner. Rating: 8.7 Overall, a powerful film that shows how inmates are still human despite their mistakes as the film uses alumni from Sing Sing’s RTA program to deliver this strong message about redemption, all led by a great performance by Colman Domingo.
