In the winter of 1862, during the Civil War, the US Army sends a company of volunteers to patrol the unexplored western territories. The dialogues and thoughts spoken are those imagined by the characters living in the wilderness and as soldiers of the Civil War.

Strong sound design, natural performances and cinematography help create tone, mood and environment

Roberto Minervini is known for his dramatic yet documentary approach to rural American life. With beautiful cinematography and a meditative study of the Civil War era and characters, Minervini offers an interesting new approach to discussing the aimless and terrifying journey of soldiers exploring and observing their surroundings and the battles of the war.

Including consistently good direction and some well staged and presented battle sequences

Although some of the dialogue ends up being frustrating, which sometimes ruins the realism. Overall, I found the beautiful and mediating approach to the Civil War interesting.

I guess I’m a little cocky lol

I know not many people will like this, but I really like it.
