The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes a living committing murders for the highest wages
He soon meets his worthy rival, a tenacious British intelligence officer who pursues him in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The novel “The Day of the Jackal” is set in 1963 and concerns an assassination attempt on the then President of France, Charles de Gaulle.
The series shifts the setting to the present day
Quoted in Graham Norton’s Taste: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). Eddy is explosively good in this series, as she is in everything she does.
That said, the series shines as one of the best on TV right now thanks to Eddy’s performance
The MI6 agent was completely miscast, she’s not scary, she’s not competent, and she gets way too much screen time. The whole show might have been more engaging if we only had the Jackal in sight, but as it is; Eddy plays the MI6 agent, whose name escapes me because he’s so forgettable.
He’s easily over your head, and I have the attention span of a goldfish
The story isn’t overly complex, but aside from the MI6 agent, the rest of the cast is incredible. They don’t spend a lot of time on drama, most of their time is spent on the Jackal, which makes this show incredible.

It’s not a slow burn, it’s non-stop (with apologies to the MI6 agent). The new season of “Silo” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of this month.
