A family is invited to spend an entire weekend in a remote house in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that a dark side resides within the family that invited them. The story is inspired by the experiences of Christian Tafdrup, director of the original Danish film Speak No Evil (2022), who befriended a Dutch couple while on vacation in Tuscany with his wife. Although the Dutch were a bit socially awkward, the two couples got along very well, and after returning home, Tafdrup received an invitation from the Dutch family to come to Holland.

In this remake, the nationalities of both families have been changed to American and British. Lots of suspense, lots of creepy, dark, dirty scenes and in a finale: brutal and upsetting!

I started this movie on a boring day with the need to watch a movie, especially a horror one, and I chose this Danish horror: “Speak no evil” and I was very impressed by this movie! Now, I watched this in preview here in my country expecting something similar (i.e., uh, it’s a remake) but I noticed that this one has more minutes: the original is 1 hour and 37 minutes and this one is 1 hour and 50 minutes thinking they were putting a new scene in it, but nooo! There is a lot more talking and the movie seems easier to approach the violence and brutality! The original movie was much more brutal (at least the final scene), it’s more like a hard PG13 than an R! James McAvoy gives us a great performance and even the little girl plays with the little boy very well…

65 out of 10 from me!

but the movie doesn’t have the kind of tension (there is tension there too) that the original had! Not a bad movie, but a mediocre movie with some changes from the original!
